Baccarat Basics for Beginners – Hand Value

Baccarat is one of the simplest games inside live or online casinos. Its simplicity rests in the rules and the baccarat basics. In fact even a kid can learn how to play baccarat, he might not learn easily how to win, but he can easily learn how to play the game, the basics of baccarat do not require many efforts.

The hand value in baccarat is set pretty easily – all face cards and tens worth zero points, other cards worth their number, meaning nine will be valued as nine points. An Ace is valued as one point only (unlike in blackjack games, where Aces can be valued both as One or Eleven points).

When you receive your hand you sum the cards' values, if the number you got is a two digit number you disregard the left digit. For example, if your hand value is 14 you then discourage the '1' and your baccarat hand value is simply 4. That's all there is to it. If you want to practice at home simply take a deck of cards and start handing yourself 2-3 cards each time and estimate their value as baccarat hands.
